About Us
Hello and welcome to CourseCast!
Coursecast is a podcast made by students for students. We record and share interviews with students and apprentices exploring a wide range of higher education pathways to help prospective students make informed decisions about their future. We know how intimidating choosing next steps can be, and believe that a key part of the post-18 decision-making process is talking to people already at that stage in their journey – students and apprentices in higher education. We also know that in-person conversations with current students and apprentices are not possible for many people. CourseCast is designed to solve this problem by sharing in-depth conversations online for everyone to see and learn from.
1:1 Conversations
Alongside our podcast, we also provide the opportunity for 1:1 meetings with university students over video call, which can be booked on the student section of the website. This provides the opportunity for digging even deeper and answering questions about different courses on a case-by-case basis.
Schools Visits
We are also exploring the possibility of in-person school visits where a panel of students visit schools to speak about their degree or apprenticeship and do Q&A, and admissions workshops. Please contact us if this service interests you!
Tutoring Network
CourseCast is using its student network to refer high-quality tutors to tutoring companies. If you are looking for tutors to work for you, please contact us for more information.
Meet the Team

Tim Mears – Host and Producer
Hello! I’m Tim Mears , a PPE student at the University of Oxford and host/producer of CourseCast. I set this podcast up because I really struggled to pick my degree and would have found a resource like CourseCast really helpful for my decision making process. I also just enjoy talking to people, and a podcast is a great excuse to do that!
Besides the podcast and my degree, I enjoy playing basketball and being outdoors – camping, wild swimming, walking, snowboarding, and mountain biking. In the future, I hope to continue working in the education sector or to go into the Civil Service.

Joe Raven – Editor and Web Designer
Hi! I’m Joe Raven, a Physics student at the University of Oxford, and I’m the one who manages this website as well as edits the main weekly podcast episodes. I’ve been doing basic editing and web design for the last few years, but I saw this as an opportunity to improve and work on a long-term project that I hope students will find useful.
Unrelated to academics, I enjoy playing the trombone in all sorts of various ensembles, whether that is jazz, classical, or a mixture of everything! You might also catch me building FPV drones from scratch, or flying them at 100mph.
I have no idea what I would like to do after uni, but I’m currently thinking of going into research.

Jamie Potter – Social Media Strategist and Content Creator
Hello! I’m James Potter and I study Maths at Worcester College Oxford, I manage the social media and short form content for CourseCast. I also like involving myself in the business side of CourseCast and wish to further develop this. But overall I just want to help with outreach for students of every background. Outside of my degree I enjoy playing piano, going to the gym and going on random adventures. After my degree I hope to enter politics in attempt to make a real difference to the world.
